Betty Fulton, President, is an award-winning event producer, entrepreneur, and marketing strategist with broad experience in entertainment promotion, event management, and sponsorship development. Betty established CommPromo in 1986 and soon after launched her trademark properties: College Fest, the Boston Antiquarian Book Fair, and the Boston Print Fair.

Betty’s imagination, experience, and energy are hallmarks of CommPromo. She brings to her clients an ability to develop creative strategies across platforms to reach target audiences. Julie Roper, Senior Event Manager

Julie has over 13 years of professional experience in project management, advertising, marketing, brand development, event management, graphic design, sales, and media promotion. She specializes in quality control and responsible execution of event details.

As an event manager, Julie is responsible for all pre-show communication with speakers, participants, and outside vendors, as well as management of timeline and logistics before and during an event. Her sales experience includes advertising, sponsorship and event exhibits. She understands how to create packages that deliver for not only the vendor, but also the client. Her knack for crafting succinct, effective marketing messages and identifying and reaching key target audiences is critical to the success of the events she manages.

Doug Haley, Production Manager

Doug Haley is an experienced logistics and production manager specializing in creative and budget conscious solutions to “real time” challenges. He has trained in theatre, finance and promotion. His attention to detail complements an ability to see the big picture. His most recent events at CommPromo include the annual Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair (1996-present), Boston Children’s Museum: Family Fest (2013), Green STAR (2011), and Down:2:Earth sustainable living expo (2008-2010).

Doug was also general manager of “Concerts on the Common,” a 12,500-seat popular music operation (1982-1989) and general manager of The Ritz/Fleet Boston Jumper Classic (1988-1994).

Nina J. Berger, Public Relations Manager

Nina is a press and media relations consultant specializing exclusively in arts and culture. Throughout her career she has developed an extensive network of long-term contacts in the local, national and international arts media. Her current clients include the Davis Museum and The Arts at Wellesley College, the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, Boston Cyberarts, Cantata Singers, the Boston International Antiquarian Book Festival and Summer Stages Dance.

Before starting her own consulting work in 1998, Nina was the Director of Public Relations for Boston Ballet, where she created a comprehensive institutional image for the Company through frequent and regular coverage in the media. During her tenure, in addition to extensive performance-related media coverage, she orchestrated publicity for the grand opening of Boston Ballet’s new building, the launch of a dance training program for urban youth called Citydance, and the Company’s 25th and 30th anniversary celebrations.

Judith Brackley, Communications Strategist

Judith is a senior communications professional with a successful track record in print and broadcast journalism, as well as marketing and corporate communications. She has been published in MS Magazine, Broadcasting Magazine, Billboard, The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix, and many others.  She understands the importance of an integrated communications strategy that features high-impact, consistent messaging over an array of platforms.

Judith’s experience includes Director of Corporate Communications at Iron Mountain, Inc.; Marketing Communications and Publications Director at Physicians for Human Rights; and Consultant for Oxfam America’s Sisters on the Planet and International Women’s Day campaigns. Judith’s broadcast experience includes Program Director at WFNX and WCAS, and news/on-air talent positions at WBCN, WBUR, and WCOZ.
